Dear friends, here I come with more CC of mine that nobody wants – but that I need to create a Greco-Roman world, and might as well share with you 🙂
These 5 frescoes depict episodes of the life of Apollo, as related in Ovid’s Metamorphosis. They are neither Roman nor Greek but Italian of origin – studies attributed to Jacopo Guarana, an assistant and associate to Tiepolo.
Friends, this is my first Sims 3 CC ever – a set of 8 big paintings with Arcadian and Greek Mythology themes, that I plan to use as frescoes in the houses of Oneiroi.
My illustrated story Oneiroi takes place in several countries around the Mediterranean in the 2nd century CE. The surviving frescoes of that period look understandably wrecked now – so this is my alternative to make them look “freshly painted” on the walls they shall decorate. The styles presented here differ considerably from the original art of that period, I know – but well, this is the art of Simprovisation.
Presenting a super useful, handy, sure-to-be-used-by-many-people pose pack: a re-creation of William-Adolphe Bouguereau’s Orestes Pursued by the Furies:
It’s a little different just because clumsy sim bodies can’t accurately capture the movement in Bouguereau’s painting.
There are five poses. Two of the furies (the right and center ones) have enough space in their hands that you can place an accessory, such as a torch (I used these torches). This set is pose list compatible. If you prefer to use codes, they are as follows:
a_owlface_fury1 – the right fury
a_owlface_fury2 – the center fury
a_owlface_fury3 – the left fury
a_owlface_orestes1 – Orestes, holding his hands over his ears
a_owlface_victim1 – Clytemnestra, draped over the third fury’s arm.
I’m uploading this even though it’s not very useful for the average simmer because I think that someone who is more creative than I am might be able to do something interesting with this set. Anyway, I hope you enjoy, no one!
There are 17 items total in this set. Seven manes (4 for adult, 3 for foals); Six tails (3 for adult, 3 for foals); Four wings (2 for adult, 2 for foals)
I uploaded this set back in May of this year to ES, but, in my opinion at least, it never really got the attention it deserved. Maybe more of you here will enjoy it.
And—*bangs head on desk*—if you downloaded the set before today, ie before I just deleted the old files and re-uploaded them, please remove the file called “Feather Hoof Hair.” It does nothing except turn your horse a solid color. And it took until four months later re-counting what was in this set for me to wonder how the hell I had originally said there were 18 items instead of 17 items. At this posting, the set hadn’t even broken 100 download counts on my mediafire so hopefully that didn’t affect much game playing. It doesn’t stop the other items from working, just annoying that’s it’s hanging around in the bin being useless. The old zips have been removed and replaced with a zip that excludes that file.
I copied and pasted the notes I made when I originally posted it to explain how to use the items.
Notes:
1. There is a hole at the top of the wings (seen most obviously in first picture below). I haven’t decided if it bothers me enough to fix it.
2. I did not get a chance to look at the tail length slider. However, pictures below show the tail without this slider in use. The first adult peacock tail shown, however, does have the tail width slider in use. The tail slider in question has since been fixed. It will lengthen the tail.
3. These are not accessories.
4. Wings are found under hoof hair; there are two wing types per age. One with hoof hair and one without.
5. In some instances, the hoof hair appears with a white streak on it. I’m not sure what is causing this. May be more noticeable depending on color.
6. Not sure if it is just my game but sometimes when starting the game, pegasus foals are invisible. I just reset them at the start of gameplay and they are fine. This doesn’t always happen and it hasn’t happened to my adult horses yet. Maybe I am too impatient to wait for them to load. This actually happens to all my foals in game and others have reported it with their “normal” foals. Don’t think it’s because of the set.
7. I have not tested this set on unicorns. I actually don’t have many of those in game…hopefully the set isn’t overwhelmingly shiny on them. I don’t expect any issues with unicorns since I didn’t map anything in the horn area, but if there is, let me know. I’m crossing my fingers that the horn area isn’t covered by feathers…but I really should have checked that while meshing… I actually still haven’t personally tested this on unicorns, but I have been told it is fine.
8. The markings are not mine. There are found from the Equus-sims community (most are on this site for those interested).
